This is the first time I have attended Modernism Week in beautiful Palm Springs. The events have all been so inspiring! To embrace Old Hollywood glam and see it reinvented in today’s designn—Palm Springs, you have me hooked!
The “must-see” event was the Christopher Kennedy Compound Modernism Week Showhouse. This year, 15 interior designers show their dedication and acute love of midcentury-modern in this spectacular Indian Canyons home.

This spring, many fashionistas will be wearing pieces made in a fabric called Toile de Jouy. From Dior to Oscar de la Renta to Tibi and beyond, many designers embraced this century’s-old fabric quite often found in home decor.

I love how many of the fashion houses are putting an edgy spin on this over 250-year-old fabric. A cool biker boot, thick leather belt, or statement sunglasses can make this fabric feel a little less sweet.

The fabric factory at Jouy was founded in 1760 by Christophe Oberkampf (1738–1815). It was given the tile of Manufacture Royale by Louis XVI in 1783 and awarded the Legion of Honor by Napoleon I in 1806. It remained in the hands of the same family until the 1820s. Oberkampf received many other awards in recognition of the quality of Jouy’s fabrics, as well as for advances in the science and technology of textile printing. The factory employed about a thousand workers during the late eighteenth century. Female workers comprised one-third to one-half the workforce at various times. Female printers earned half the pay of male printers.
On that note, I find it fascinating that the brilliant Dior design director and activist Maria Grazia Chiuri chose Toile de Jouy to rule her runway for her latest collection. Famously known for her “WE SHOULD ALL BE FEMINISTS” t-shirt, maybe she also knew a little history about Toile..
President’s Day is right around the corner which immediately makes me think of skiing. I’ve been skiing since I was 9 years old and I absolutely love this invigorating pastime. I absolutely LOVE designing rooms for kiddos. These rooms always reflect the “cutie-pies” that live in them. Boys rooms are fun because I have three boys of my own—I love being a “boy mom” and (finally) feel like I understand these simple and sweet beings. And then the girls—lucky me to work with these adorable creatives and definite visionaries! Here are just few of my designs for the most extraordinary and unique kids! Like ice cream—what a pleasure each one was!

When traveling to Paris, it’s always fun to spot the latest fashion trends. One trend that is stronger than ever is sneakers. And I couldn’t be happier about this trend! Sneakers are so comfortable and can be a very strong fashion statement. From chunky to color-blocked to the classics, everyone in Paris was wearing sneakers.
Veja claims ecological and fair trade conditions and to work with cooperatives of small producers and social associations in Brazil and France. I have the white and black version and they have become my uniform.

Off White’s Virgil Abloh is one to watch! He is also the menswear Creative Director at Louis Vuitton Menswear. Time Magazine named him 100 of the most influential people in 2018 so I’m keeping an eye on him!
